(October 2015) – Nanto Cleantech is pleased to announce the R&D Cooperation Program named “Novel process for producing reduced friction coatings for flowing fluids over solids” with Fincantieri S.p.A.
The aim is to develop innovative and cleantech coating systems and solutions based on functionalised nanoparticles to reduce the friction of fluids and specifically water when flowing over solid surfaces by repelling the liquids from the surface. These attributes are highly demanded in Marine, Oil&Gas and many other industrial sectors for the reduction of energy consumption during flow/ship navigation and, consequently, abatement of CO2 emissions.
Fincantieri, as shipbuilding company, has a very long time expertise in coating applications and evaluation of their performances for every specific area of a ship, yacht, navy vessel and off shore structures. The company will give assess of the material application feasibility on the basis of internal technical specification for ship areas where the reduced friction coating application is foresseable.
Nanto Cleantech team has a long term expertise in the development of smart and functional coating systems based on NCs and epoxy, polyurethane and acrylic polymer systems. The company will carry out and manage the reduced friction coating activities from research to design of nanocomposite materials and it will be involved in NSs modification and functionalization.
